We do not have a potty-trained prerequisite. If your child is 2 years old or older and is not potty trained, do not worry, we will work together as a team to help potty train your child.

Is there a Transition Period for my child? How do parents handle Separation Anxiety?

The first few days of school are known as “Phase-In.” During a transition period children will meet their new teachers and classmates, and are gradually familiarized with school and classroom routines. Parents or guardians will receive a specific schedule for your child’s transition. We recommend always giving a kiss or hug and saying “goodbye” and most importantly, always saying that you’re coming back. Teachers and Director are available to help any child who is having a particularly tough transition and teachers will provide necessary feedback to parents during the process.
Separation anxiety is a normal developmental stage where children experience anxiety when they are separated from their parents. Separation is a process and we are here to help you through it.
Some children have no separation anxiety and some children experience anxiety for several days. It is important to reassure and soothe the child and let them know it is okay to cry or feel upset. Teachers handle separation by utilizing proven strategies to minimize the unknown, such as consistent schedules and routines, bringing familiar items from home, and creating an open and honest communication with parents.

What is KidsHive Preschool’s Curriculum?

We use the Creative Curriculum, which is a research based curriculum that focuses on exploration, play and discovery as a way of learning, allowing our children to develop in all areas of development: Emotional, Language and Literacy, Science, Creative, Social Studies, Math and Reasoning and Physical development. Using Jean Piaget’s theory of Constructivism, KidsHive Preschool makes an emphasis on the teacher’s role. Instead of giving lectures, our teachers perform as facilitators whose role is to aid our children when it comes to their own understanding and help them construct their own knowledge by playing and exploring.

How frequently are Toys and Classroom Sanitized?

The toys and classrooms are cleaned and sanitized everyday by the Teachers, which follow a detailed checklist for cleaning. The school is also completely sanitized on a daily basis after the children leave the facility by a cleaning company.

How can I be involved in my child’s school experience?

We gladly welcome parents to join us for special celebrations, birthdays and special activities. Additionally, parents may volunteer in their child’s classroom or simply stop by to visit! A teacher may also ask for parent volunteers to help with a particular activity.

When and how are children’s skills evaluated?

Formal Assessments are conducted three times per year. These assessments not only help parents to understand where their child is in his or her development, but also what areas can be strengthened. We incorporate both informal and standardized assessments during the year, as well as noting the individuality of each child relative to his or her own progress. Teachers’ observations of a child reflect the child’s growth and needs, both as an individual and as part of a group. Parent/Teacher Conferences are held also three times per year, immediately following the completion of assessments.

What is the educational background of KidsHive Preschool’s teachers?

Our teachers go beyond the basic licensing and accreditation requirements. Many of our teachers hold a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. There are some who hold their Masters Degree or other advanced degrees and certificates.

Safety Protocol for KidsHive Staff Arrival

• Upon the opening of our school and the arrival of our staff, we, the teachers, have our temperature taken before entering the school. We need to have a body temperature of less than 100 °F.

• We must also disinfect our shoes and personal belongings before entering the facilities. and then we continue to the restroom to properly wash our hands.

• Every member of our preschool is always required to use PPE at all times when working indoors, including face masks, a cute bee shaped face shield and latex disposable gloves.

Safety Protocol for Little Bees Arrival

1. Drop-Off and Pick-Up is performed in the front driveway of our school in our own “drive through”style, we call it Kiss & Ride Area. In which parents and caregivers always stay at the vehicle while wearing a facemask.

2. Parents, caregivers, and children will have their body temperature taken using an infrared non-contact thermometer (reading not to exceed 100.0 F) and will be asked traveling and destination questions per CDC indications.

3. Upon arrival, all our
little bees will have their shoes and personal belongings sanitized, like backpacks and lunch boxes before setting them in their respective place.

4. After disinfecting their shoes, our children will be taken directly to their corresponding restrooms to have their hands properly washed. And the procedure on how to properly wash your hands will be reinforced every morning to every student during this part of the protocol.
